Thorncliffe - Laycock Park Off-Leash Area Overview
Laycock Park sits along the Nose Creek regional pathway system in the Thorncliffe/Greenview community, carrying the City of Calgary's off-leash designations THO-002 and THO-006 across its grounds. At roughly 50 acres, it's one of the larger off-leash sites in the NE quadrant.
The park is named for the Laycock family, early Calgary-area agricultural pioneers — Thomas Laycock farmed part of this land in the early 1900s and later became a director of the Calgary Exhibition, which went on to become the Calgary Stampede. The park itself was built with funding from the Thorncliffe/Greenview community, City of Calgary subsidies, and provincial lottery funds.
Beyond the off-leash area, Laycock Park has sheltered picnic tables, a children's playground, and baseball diamonds near 64 Avenue — dogs are not permitted in the ball diamonds, so keep to the open grass, pathways, and creek-side areas.
